About Us
The mission of the Planning Office is to support the University to become more competitive, and to improve its reputation, internationally, nationally and regionally.
Our mission, strategy and activities are outlined in the Planning Office Business Plan for 2009/10 (pdf, UoB users only)
We aim to achieve our mission by supporting strategic and operational planning and decision making across the University, by managing the University’s planning processes; co-ordinating and providing a range of business intelligence; and assuming responsibility for the completion of a range of statutory returns.
We have four teams:

This team supports Colleges to achieve their academic goals consistent with University strategy.
Through our College Planning Partners, we are responsible for
- The development, monitoring and evaluation of College strategies and plans, working with colleagues in Colleges and the rest of the Corporate Services
- Providing professional support to academic reviews, including change management projects, Strategic Research Reviews and internal academic reviews.
- Supporting the production and monitoring of College compacts, through provision of management information and advice
|

 |
- Develops systems of forecasting and modelling (particularly student numbers, fees, and research income) that underpin and inform Colleges’ academic activity and the University’s budget framework
- Advises stakeholders on a range of areas including student number targets, tuition fees, institutional scholarships and bursaries, and the optimisation of the University’s HEFCE and TDA funding position.

The Office also supports three Committees of Council.
